Hengli Heavy Industry enjoyed a very strong first half of 2026, securing a staggering total of 207 newbuilding contracts that span the full range of mainstream vessel types, including bulk carriers, container ships, oil tankers and gas carriers.
The order portfolio comprises 49 bulk carriers, 56 container ships and 94 oil tankers. Most notably, the shipyard added eight Very Large Ammonia Carriers (VLACs) to its orderbook for the first time.
The new order intake sees Hengli Heavy Industry becoming one of the world’s largest shipbuilding yards.
Container ships and oil tankers jointly account for over 70% of its new orders, highlighting its solid breakthroughs in high-value vessel segments. The well-balanced product layout covering conventional bulk carriers and cutting-edge ammonia-fuelled gas carriers greatly enhances the yard’s ability to hedge against cyclical shipping market fluctuations and strengthens overall operational resilience.
Benefiting from the booming global shipping market in 2026, Hengli Heavy Industry’s cumulative orderbook continues to expand, with total contracted vessels exceeding 500 and delivery schedules fully extended through 2030. The substantial high-quality order reserve firmly cements its position among China’s top-tier private shipbuilders.
In addition to robust order pipeline, the yard maintained stable delivery efficiency, completing and delivering 40 high-standard newbuild vessels in the first half of 2026.
